A Color Rooted Deep in the Earth, Where New Possibilities Begin
KANGNAM JEVISCO, best known for its iconic JEBI Paint brand in Korea, has selected “Rich Soil (TN 0459)” as its 2027 Color of the Year.
The overarching theme for the 2027 Color of the Year is “Rooted Possibility,” inspired by the vitality of the earth—grounded and resilient even in a rapidly changing world, yet always nurturing the potential for new growth.
Rich Soil is a warm earth brown inspired by fertile soil rich in minerals and nutrients, the very foundation from which life grows. Connecting nature and people, as well as the past and the future, the color conveys a sense of comfort and stability while expressing quiet, understated sophistication.
As lifestyles increasingly shift away from conspicuous consumption toward more natural, comfortable, and meaningful ways of living, Rich Soil reflects this transition by drawing attention to balance, restoration, and essential values in everyday life.
Rather than demanding attention through visual intensity, Rich Soil is designed to remain comfortably present over time, creating a natural connection between people and the spaces they inhabit. In this way, the color suggests a more grounded direction for contemporary lifestyles.
In interior spaces, Rich Soil adds depth and a sense of stability to the overall atmosphere. It pairs naturally with materials such as wood and linen, enhancing their inherent textures while creating calm and inviting environments that encourage people to stay and unwind.
Its versatile brown tone also complements a broad range of colors, making Rich Soil suitable for diverse applications—from residential interiors to commercial spaces and offices.
“Amid rapid changes in society and our surroundings, we focused on the essence and balance of life, as well as the possibilities that lie within us,” said Min-ki Kim, Head of Color Design at KANGNAM JEVISCO. “Rather than pursuing eye-catching brilliance, Rich Soil represents the grounding strength of the earth that supports our lives and the new possibilities that can grow from that foundation.”
Kim added, “KANGNAM JEVISCO will continue to closely observe shifts in society and lifestyle and translate those insights into color, proposing new color values that enrich the relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit.”
